Scatterhoard

Privacy Policy

Effective November 3, 2026

Scatterhoard Games (“Scatterhoard”, “we”) is based in the United States and publishes Unclog the Bog for PC and Steam Deck. The short version: the game collects nothing unless you opt in, and even then it doesn’t know who you are.

Your choice

On first launch, the game asks whether you’d like to share anonymous play data. Sharing is off unless you agree, and you can switch it off at any time in Settings > Privacy.

Switching it off deletes any data that hasn’t been sent yet, along with your device’s random ID. It doesn’t remove data we’ve already received. To have that deleted too, note your ID before you switch off, then see Your rights.

What's sent when sharing is on

  • Gameplay metrics: levels played, when and for how long you played, progress, items bought and placed, and finds.
  • Settings: your game settings.
  • Performance data: frame times.
  • System details: your platform (such as Steam Deck, Linux or Windows), graphics card model, and the game’s version and build.

Each record is tied to a random ID generated on your device, plus a random ID for that playthrough. Neither is linked to your name, email, Steam account or any other identity.

What's not collected

We don’t collect names, emails, Steam IDs or account details, contacts, precise location, or anything you type into the game. There are no ads and no ad tracking, and we don’t sell your data or share it for marketing.

IP address and country

When data arrives, your IP address is used only to estimate a rough country. It’s then discarded and not stored.

Who processes the data

Play data is processed by PostHog (PostHog Inc.) on its US cloud, reached through a PostHog-managed address, v.scatterhoard.games. It’s stored in the United States.

Why we use it

We use play data to improve the game’s design, balance, difficulty and performance. Our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings.

How long we keep it

Play data is kept for up to 1 year, then deleted.

Your rights

To request access to your data or have it deleted, email info@scatterhoard.games with the ID shown in the game at Settings > Privacy > “What’s sent?”. Because the data isn’t linked to your identity, that ID is how we find it.

Stored on your device

The game stores your settings, achievements and field book progress on your device, along with a small queue of play data waiting to upload while sharing is on. None of this leaves your device except the shared play data described above.

Steam

If you play through Steam, Valve handles your Steam account data and achievements under Steam’s own privacy policy.

Children

The game isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them.
